Introduction
There comes a time in every new cuber's life when they have to switch to an advanced method!
After learning the beginner's method on the 2x2, one must learn the Ortega method to get faster.
The Ortega method is an intermediate method that is considered to be the best 2x2 cube-solving method after EG. There are only 3 steps in Ortega and it is quite easy to learn. All you have to do is learn some algorithms and follow the steps.
To help you learn this method, we have made a step-by-step tutorial.
So, let's get started!
Step 1-If you’re trying to learn Ortega then you must have some knowledge about solving a layer. The first step is like the beginner’s method, you just need to solve a random layer. To do this you'll have to move the pieces around till you get your desired layer!
Step 2-We orient the corners of the top layer. We will have to use these algorithms to complete this step. Use these algorithms according to the situation-
Do make sure that you hold the 2x2 cube properly according to the pictures!
Case 1 - Use this algorithm - R U R' U R U2 R'
Case 2 - Use this algorithm - R U2 R' U' R U' R'
Case 3 - Use this algorithm - U F (R U R' U') F'
Case 5 - Use this algorithm - R U2 R2 U' R2 U' R2 U2 R
Case 6 - Use this algorithm - F R U' R' U' R U R' F'
Case 7 - Use this algorithm - L' U' L U R U' L' U
Step 3
In this step, we will permute the corners. This step is a bit hard to learn as it is quite different from the others but once you master it, it’ll become the fastest step.
You’ll have to memorize these algorithms to solve the last layer!
Case 1 - Use this algorithm - (R U' R' U' F2 U') (R U R') D R2
Case 2 - Use this algorithm - (R U2 R' U') (R U2) (L' U R' U' L)
Case 3 - Use this algorithm - R2 U' B2 U2 R2 U' R2
Case 4 - Use this algorithm - R2 F2 R2
Case 5 - Use this algorithm - (R U' R) F2 (R' U R')
Conclusion
Like every cubing method, Ortega takes some time to master. One must be patient and consistent to learn it properly. Once you finish learning the steps, it's quite important to make sure that you revise the algorithms on a daily basis until they get embedded into your muscle memory.
Again, this will take some time but trust me, it'll be worth it.
Everyone starts out as a beginner and one can only become a master in cubing with practice. My biggest advice would be to practice with focus and improving your fingertricks!

This have helped me so much! I now average around 6 seconds instead of 15-20 seconds with beginners method!
It only took me a week to learn all of the algs, so it is fairly not that hard!

It’s an algorithm if you had learned the beginners method and were a true cuber you know

Thats great, but what does R U R’ U R U2 R’ mean? I’ve been making alot of noises, but the cube remains unsolved.
